A supplier CSV turned into a structured collectables store — categories, written descriptions and a catalogue a buyer can actually navigate.

About the project
The challenge
The client came to us with one file: a CSV export from their supplier. No categories, no written descriptions, no site — just rows of product data covering diecast cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses and aircraft in a range of scales. The job was to turn that into a shop a collector could browse.
Our solution
We treated the catalogue as the product. Raw supplier rows were grouped into collections that match how collectors actually search — by vehicle type first, then by scale and manufacturer — and every product description was written rather than left as the supplier’s shorthand. The storefront was then designed around that structure, so the navigation reflects the catalogue instead of fighting it.
Process
- Audited the supplier CSV to establish what data existed and what was missing
- Grouped products into collections by vehicle type, then by scale and manufacturer
- Rewrote product descriptions from supplier shorthand into copy that reads
- Built the category structure first, then designed the storefront around it
- Set up filtering so a collector can narrow by scale without leaving the collection
- Imported the finished catalogue into WooCommerce with consistent attributes
What we built
- Collections for cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses and aircraft
- Scale-based filtering across the catalogue (1:18, 1:24, 1:164 and others)
- Written product descriptions, not supplier data dumps
- Consistent attributes so filtering behaves the same in every collection
- Storefront designed around the catalogue structure
